How can you debate
that this isn't the greatest rivalry in sports?
You
can't! Coaches could have Great years, take their
teams to the
Rose Bowl,
win Big Bowl games...but if they lose this single game...they will get fired.
Just ask Ohio State's Cooop who had a wonderful run
in the late 90's
with many, many Top 5 rankings
during the regular season. but he never really
beat Michigan. ::::: Fired! :::::

did! I say did because with the advent of the
College Ranking system [BCS], the once "Grand Daddy" of them
all... the Rose
Bowl, has now become just another bowl game. The truth is, if the #1 vs #2
"isn't" playing, people are not watching it. Sad state for
College Football in my opinion. However, the Great Tradition of
the Rose will always live forever at their web site... be sure to

Michigan leads 56-37-6 (2002) Trophy: No trophy, but traditionally Ohio State players get
a
gold charm in the shape of a pair of pants if they win.

Hmmm, the Big Ten schedule makers must have knew something
back in 1935 when they decided to schedule Michigan and Ohio
State the last game of each others season.
The 1968 Michigan-Ohio State game ushered Out Michigan coach
Bump Elliott and ushered in the would be "legendary" coach Bo
Schembechler. Ohio State beat Michigan 50-14 and went on to
win the 1968 National Championship.
Bo Schembechler's First Mich vs OSU game in 1969, he broke
Woody Hayes 22 game winning streak and knocked #1 Ohio State
from it's top college ranking. The 1970 game would produce 2
Un-defeated teams playing each other in Columbus. Woody Hayes
would have his revenge by beating Michigan 20-9.
(OSU was ranked 5, Mich was ranked 4)
From 1968 -1977, either Ohio State or Michigan won the Big Ten
Title.
OSU's John Cooper took 2 Undefeated Ohio State teams into the
Michigan game only to lose both... and basically lost National
Championships with them. Cooper only won 2 times in 13 years
vs Michigan. Cooper amassed one of the BEST records in college
football during those 13 years... but will onyl be remembered
for NOT beating Michigan.
